Athletics

Sport has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. Some of my earliest memories are of soccer (football) shirts my father would bring home for me and kicking a ball around together in our backyard. Or when we signed up for Tae Kwon-Do. It was always so fun to be outside running around and at an early age it doesn't matter what you're doing as long as it's outside!

As I matured physically I entered more and more sports both through school and clubs. They have ranged from soccer year-round, softball, football, table tennis, volleyball, basketball, track & field, badminton and road races. I've been very lucky to have been a part of some amazing experiences through my endeavours from representing my community, my schools, my university, my province and even the country in some friendly matches against local teams in the Manchester-Liverpool, England area. It has to be said that I have never been even remotely close to cracking a national team roster spot but we did represent both Nova Scotia and Canada in these international friendlies, if you will. The closest I've come to a National Team was competing against multiple members of these teams during Atlantic University Sport games over the years - a very cool experience!

As with any athlete at any level, I have experienced the good and bad. I've been lucky enough to represent my province at National Competitions for all ages and also now had two knee surgeries. In the best of times you find yourself lost in a moment and at the worst of times, you learn to appreciate those good times that much more.

I'm currently in the midst of an ACL & MCL tear recovery and aiming to be back to my active self as soon as possible. The next chapter in my athletic struggles and rare victories - we all have them.
